The Miami Marlins are an American professional baseball team based in Miami, Florida. They play in the Major League Baseball League (MLB) as a member club of the Eastern Division of the National League (NL). Their original park is Marlins Park. Although one of only two MLB franchises to ever win a division title (the other is the Colorado Rockies), the Marlins have won two World Series championships as a Wild team. Card.

The team began playing as an extension team in the 1993 season as the Florida Marlins and played home games from the inaugural season at the 2012 Joe Robbie Stadium, which they shared with the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). Since the 2012 season, they play at Marlins Park in downtown Miami, on the site of the former Orange Bowl. The new park, unlike their old home (which had been criticized in its baseball setup for poor sightlines in some places), was primarily designed as a baseball park. In accordance with an agreement with the city and Miami-Dade County (which owns the park), the Marlins officially changed their name to “Miami Marlins” on November 11, 2011. They also adopted a new logo, a new color palette and new uniforms.

The Marlins have the distinction of winning a world series championship in the two seasons in which they qualified for the playoffs in 1997 and 2003, both as a wild card team of the National League, making them the only franchise in the four major North American professional sports. leagues (MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL) never to lose a round in the playoffs. They defeated American league champion Cleveland Indians in the 1997 World Series. Edgar Rentería made a stopover in second, Craig Counsell, in the decisive heat of the series in the 11th inning of the seventh tie. In 2003, coach Jeff Torborg was fired after 38 games. The Marlins were in last place in the NL East with a record of 16-22 at the time. Torborg’s successor, Jack McKeon, 72, led them to the NHL Wild Card Qualifier in the playoffs; they beat the New York Yankees four-two in the 2003 World Series.
