History: From Adabank to Dünya Katılım
Adabank A.Ş. was established in 1984 as a commercial bank providing deposits and loans to private individuals and companies in Turkey. In July 2003, the ownership rights, management, and supervision of Adabank were transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (SDIF) following the İmarbank scandal.
In November 2023, Adabank completed its transformation into a participation (Islamic) bank and was renamed Dünya Katılım Bankası A.Ş., now owned by Ahlatcı Holding. The bank operates under Islamic banking principles.
