Important Notice: ABC Capital Bank Uganda – Tier II Credit Institution
ABC Capital Bank Uganda Limited (formerly known as African Banking Corporation Uganda) is a Tier II credit institution licensed by the Bank of Uganda. Note: This bank is separate from ABC Holdings/BancABC and operates independently.
2024 Regulatory Change
In April 2024, ABC Capital Bank was required to reorganize from a commercial bank to a Tier II credit institution due to capital requirements. As a result:
- All customer checking accounts were closed
- Foreign exchange services ceased
- The bank now operates as a credit institution rather than a full commercial bank

History
ABC Capital Bank was founded in 1992 as Capital Finance Corporation Limited (CFCL), a Tier III Ugandan Financial Institution. The bank primarily serves individuals, small and medium enterprises, and corporate clients in Uganda.
Not to Be Confused With
ABC Capital Bank Uganda is not affiliated with ABC Holdings Limited or the BancABC network that operates in Botswana, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Despite the similar names, these are separate banking entities.
