About the Transition
Agrofinanzas was originally established as a Sociedad Financiera de Objeto Limitado (SOFOL) – a specialized, non-deposit taking financial institution in Mexico focused on agricultural lending. The institution has since evolved and rebranded to Bankaool S.A.
Understanding Mexican Financial Institutions

- SOFOL (Sociedad Financiera de Objeto Limitado) – Limited-purpose financial companies (being phased out)
- SOFOM (Sociedad Financiera de Objeto Múltiple) – Multiple-purpose financial companies
