Banca di Sassari was founded in 1888 as Banca Cooperativa fra Commercianti Societa Anonima. In 1993, a joint-stock company called Banca di Sassari S.p.A. was established under the control of Banco di Sardegna. In 2001, it became part of the BPER group. On April 16, 2020, the bank was renamed Bibanca S.p.A.
