What Happened to Astra Bank?
ASTRABANK PJSC was part of the Banking Group “Delta,” with Delta Bank JSC as the designated entity. The bank was declared a problem bank in February 2015 due to:
- Involvement in risky activities posing threats to depositors and creditors
- Need for tighter supervision and control
- Failure of the bank’s owner to provide financial support
- No credible resolution proposals were submitted to restore the bank’s operations
The National Bank of Ukraine appointed an overseer, but the bank failed to comply with Ukrainian banking laws and was ultimately declared insolvent.
