UOB Group first operated in the Philippines in November 1999. In 2006, UOB Philippines was converted from a commercial bank to a thrift bank subsidiary, selling 66 branches to BDO Unibank. UOB Philippines now operates from a single location in Makati City, focusing on wholesale banking products and services.

In August 2015, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas approved UOB Limited to register as “United Overseas Bank Limited, Manila Branch” following new banking laws enacted in July 2014.

Note: Unlike UOB in Singapore, Malaysia, or Thailand, UOB Philippines does NOT offer consumer/retail banking services. There is no personal internet banking portal like PIB (Personal Internet Banking) available for individual customers in the Philippines.
